Right about now feat Feel Good Friday

Love, Kids and Other Things

Tribelet’s – Tayla has finished her last exams and second year varsity is done and dusted.  She is one step closer to becoming a Speech and Language Therapist.  Also, soon to be celebrating her 21st in February.  Not sure how that happened. How did 21 years just race by?

Ella-Blu is in study mode as she writes her year end exams for Grade 8.  She continues to amaze me with her dedication and commitment.  She attends extra lessons for Maths and Afrikaans, with some of those being at 6:30am.  Never a moan from her, she gets it done.  Her Maths has improved so much but the Afrikaans still seems to be a challenge.  Don’t get me started on the fact that our children still need to be taught Afrikaans.

Caleb is all about the sport.  After the RWC the rugby ball has been shelved and the cricket kit is out in full force.

Mili-Flyn continues to obsessed with wearing dresses, especially the fancy type.  I did wish for 1 of the 3 girls to be somewhat girly and it seems  my wish was granted with this character.

Camping – I am happy to report that the camping trip was a huge success and I would definately go again (blog post to follow about the trip).

December – We are all doing the great trek up to Jozi in December to send time with Evert’s family.  This will involve camping, lots of the Afrikaans language, hours of driving and time spent in the car but on the upside I get to see my bestie.

Work – This has been a testing year on the work front but having said that also a very satisfying one.  It has required me to step up to the plate and reaffirmed skills that I had not used in ages.  I am working with an incredible “All Chick” team, which I must admit I was trying really hard to avoid.  I do believe women can do anything that men can, but do I really want to change a tyre and get all greasy? I think not.  So while I am not the first to burn my bra and I feel more comfortable with the opposite sex, I can state that I have stumbled onto a winning combination of estrogen.  Our office is currently a hub of Christmas activity.  A little early, I know, but with most of us going on leave from the start of December we are cashing in on the Christmas spirit.

Pug Life – Our adorable pug Cooper turns 1 on 26 November.  Thinking of baking a “pug friendly” cake for him but we all know my skills do not lie in the kitchen.  So perhaps Tayla will take up this challenge.

Cuteness overload

Cuteness overload

What’s on the box – My current viewing pleasure has to be Blindspot.  Besides the intriguing story line, Sullivan Stapleton is also very easy on the eye.

This World – While I was saddened and shocked by the events in Paris over the week-end, I just can’t bring myself to follow the masses and add the French flag to my profile picture.  This is not because I don’t care, it is that I care about so much more. There were the bombings in Beirut which seemed to go unnoticed, our community has recently experienced unrest in Masimasiphumelele, human trafficking is on a steady rise, the nearly 300 Nigerian school girls that where kidnapped in April are still missing.  Then there is Syria.  The list is endless.  So while I read silly comments on Facebook where narrow-minded people state they will not pray for Paris but instead only African countries, there is tiny glimmer of hope. I realise I have great friends who choose to not singling out an event to pray for and support, they instead choose to support the Human Race.  This is my choice.  Irrespective of colour, creed or continent we need to praying for this.  So when there is a profile picture/banner that supports this, I will put it up. *climbs off my soapbox*

Today’s Feel Good Friday is a tune that has my office and household not only tapping their feet but singing along.  Enjoy it!

Feel Good Friday – Toe vind ek jou

Feels like forever since I did one of these posts and it has been.  I am not even sure I have an excuse as to why I have not been blogging.  I took a look at my drafts and there are currently 12 posts there, waiting to be brought too life.  So hopefully this is a step in the right direction.

Work as always is interesting.  A few changes with a couple of teammates leaving (that in itself is a pending blog post).  The Tribelets are keeping me busy with their hectic sport and social schedules.

Week-end plans:

I have 4 boys sleeping over tonight, all under the age of 8, so not as exciting as it sounds!  Then off to Caleb’s rugby match on Saturday. So pretty much the glamorous life of Soccer Mom, except I wont be wearing a matching tracksuit.  A much needed catch up with mates on Saturday evening around the fire. Then the compulsory visit to Bob’s bagels on Sunday, after waking up early for the start of the Comrades. Bliss.

I originally had Cheerleader by OMI as today’s pick for a Feel Good Friday tune, albeit the video is terrible.  There is however a tune that I have on repeat, perhaps not that upbeat but Proudly South African.  Give it a listen!

Stay safe, stay warm and have a great week-end.

Feel Good Friday – Sugar

This Friday could not have come quick enough!  What a week and next week will no doubt be just as busy with school starting.

I am sure most of you would have seen this video as there has been a huge hype about it on social media over the last couple of days.  Such a cool concept, with Maroon 5 crashing weddings and surprising all with a performance.  The song it very catchy (could be due to having watch the video a couple of time already) and Adam Levine is very easy on the eye. Enjoy it and have an amazing week-end.

Feel Good Friday – Don’t

After a bumper packed last week-end, which saw us having a “chilled” braai on Friday, then off to Currie Cup final on Saturday (which was AMAZING).  This week-end we will be chilling at home as I have my last  BIG event happening at work, which is great.  Then *BOOM* all the social events start happening:

  • Week-end away for a mates 40th
  • School prize givings
  • School concerts
  • Ella’s Grade 7 dance
  • “Book Club” Christmas party
  • Work Year End Function
  • Birthday parties the kids have been invited too
  • **insert many impronto braai’s at our place**

With today being Halloween Mili-Flyn was to dress accordingly for school and Caleb has been invited to a Halloween themed birthday party.  Caleb sorted his “costume” out very easily: camo pants, penguin hat and a gun.  For those that are wondering, he is going dresses as a penguin hunter!  Mili-Flyn on the other hand decided she was having non if this dressing up.  She has gone to school in a spotted Minnie Mouse dress (red) with a pink and grey hoodie.  No amount of persuasion on my part could remotely tempt her to wear the Minnie Mouse ears.

Tomorrow is also the start of the #BlogVember challenge.  Really looking forward to getting back into regular blogging.

Today’s tune is Ed Sheeran’s – Don’t.  I have been a late bloomer in the Ed Sheeran stable, after only discovering him last year.  Love this song and the music video is pretty cool.  Have a good week-end peeps.

Feel Good Friday – Best Day Of My Life

Another week behind us!! I feel like the Duracell Bunny on speed at the moment.  Non stop go, go, go!! The week-end doesn’t seem to be any less hectic but I am looking forward to it.

We have my Stepdad visiting at the moment which is always a treat.  We have a bumper week-end planned which includes going to watch the final at Newlands tomorrow. (Dear Rugby Gods, please be kind to WP this time around).  So needless to say by Monday I will need a week-end from my week-end.

Public Service Announcement:  Calling all bloggers!!  I have taken over the Christmas baton from Cupcake Mummy  and will be coordinating the Bloggers Secret Santa this year.  Please contact me if you would like to take part.  The response has already been great, but with it being Christmas, the more the merrier.

Today’s tune is second choice, since I can’t find a video for Jeremy Loops, Skinny Blues.  That song instantly puts me in a good mood.  Second choice is not half bad though, Best Day of My Life by American Authors.  Have a listen, sing along and whatever your plans for this week-end are, enjoy it and stay safe.

Feel Good Friday – All About That Base

I feel like I could be a held accountable for a borderline case for child abuse!! I have really not been giving my other kid, this blog,  ANY attention.  The reason is 2 fold.

Firstly, I have been so busy at work but the good busy.  You know what it is like when you love your job and it seems you have just sat down, when it is time to head home and play Mommy? Well that is happening.  I have all good intention of sneaking in a blog post during the day but it never seems to happen.

We were also on a waiting list for an ADSL line at home.. Hipster life in the Valley, those things are limited. Our house is finally a WIFI zone, so my other kid, this blog, will be able to get some attention when the Tribelet’s have gone to bed.

Secondly, although work is awesome, I have lacked some inspiration and motivation on what to write about. I think a little November Blog Challenge will be in order to motivate me.  So I have turned to my inspiration to start blogging, Cupcake Mummy, and between us (and some other cool chicks on the inter webs) we will put something together for November.

Week-end plans are to play taxi to the Tribelet’s and drop them off at all of their social events.  Chill at home with a couple of good mates and watch the rugby on Saturday.

The next couple of weeks at work are bumper to bumper with events.  The end of November sees us heading off to Red Stone Hills for the week-end to celebrate the 40th birthday of one of my besties, who I don’t get to see often enough.  I am not sure if the thought of seeing mates from Slummies I haven’t seen in ages or a child-free week-end, is more exciting.

Today’s tune is one that has stuck in my head since I first heard it. Always find myself singing along to it.  Enjoy it, have a great week-end and stay safe.

Feel Good Friday – Chasing Cars

You know that feeling when you have had far too much to drink, you go to bed and the room starts spinning? You try putting your feet on the floor to slow things down?  Well, that is how I feel about life! At the moment it is happening too fast, and I feel like putting my foot down to slow everything down, just a little.

Work is crazy but in a good way.  Everything is starting to come together and we have so many cool things on the go that I am battling to find the “off” switch on my brain.

The Tribelet’s are back at school and varsity, thankfully, so some form of “normality” returns to our crazy household.  Caleb has decided he is over tag rugby and now ready for tackle rugby, needless to say I feel he will only be ready for tackle rugby at the age of 30!  Ella is getting geared up for her 13th birthday next month.  In the lines of parties, she has decided to have a “disco”. This means the traditional “girls only” party will not be happening. Not sure Dad is going to cope well with the influx of boys.

Tomorrow, besides the usual week-end party run for one of the Tribelet’s, I am heading over the mountain, into town, visit my stylist.  So excited for this. Besides the fact that I am in desperate need of a haircut, I am taking the 2 older girls with and we are lunching at Tasha’s.  Just what the doctor ordered.

Monday we celebrate our wedding anniversary… and part 3 of How I met your Father features!  Today’s tune is based on Monday’s post and the fact that I could do with some quiet time.  Also happens to one of my all time fave tunes… enjoy it.  Stay safe.  Stay warm!
